What is a CVB?
A convention and visitors bureau (also called destination marketing organizations-DMO) are is a not-for-profit organization charged with representing a specific destination and most are largely funded by hotel occupancy taxes. For meetings both small and large, CVBs give meeting planners access to a range of services including checking for hotel and meeting space availability and arranging for site inspections. CVBs also link planners with local service companies from motorcoach companies and caterers to off-site entertainment venues.
What planners say...
"We used the convention center for our tradeshow and conference because the space is convenient to our entire hotel room block. It was easy and safe for our attendees to walk to the convention center only a few short blocks away from any of the hotels in our block. The attached Hilton Americas is a beautiful property with plenty of meeting room space on the same level as the meeting room space we utilized in the George R. Brown.
The customer service in Houston was great! The staff at the CVB, George R. Brown Convention Center, Hilton, Hyatt, Four Seasons, Courtyard, Residence Inn, and Doubletree was very responsive, friendly, accommodating, and pleasant."

""Easy access to the airport, lots to see, and an overall great experience. I would recommend Spokane to anyone making conference arrangements in the State of Washington. I had never been to Spokane before our first conference in 2007; I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw. Enough to rebook our 2009 conference and hopefully future conferences as well." "

"- Louisville and the Kentucky Exposition Center are a good fit for the International
BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX). We are excited for the move, as it’s an
attractive destination for our show’s participants (both attendees & exhibitors) from an
economic and location standpoint. Recognized as one of the top 10 most affordable cities to
host a tradeshow, in addition to Louisville’s central location and proximity to boatbuilding
plants, ultimately drove our decision to relocate IBEX to the Kentucky Exposition Center in
September 2010.

We could not have asked for a better show; we had packed aisles, the exhibitors were ecstatic, all of the events were jam-packed with people and every single person I saw inside the building had a smile from ear-to-ear. Your team is truly awesome. We are so excited about our future years in Orlando.""

"The annual conference of the American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE) was held May 17-20 [2006] in Charlotte at the Omni. The facility was excellent and the service we received was superlative. I received nothing but positive comments from our members regarding the city, hotel, meeting facility, food, and professionalism of both your staff and the hotel staff. I genuinely appreciate your making the initial arrangements for the meeting in Charlotte and for following up with me as the planning for the meeting developed.
As President of AAAE at the time, I was impressed by the degree to which our needs were not only met, but were often anticipated by your staff before we even m"

"Downtown Raleigh was a hit with attendees, the R-LINE (downtown circulator) was used extensively, and the rickshaws and Segways also got compliments. We heard lots of positive comments about our clean city, the restaurants, and the Marbles Kids Museum where we held the conference party. I also want to compliment the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau (GRCVB) and their sales and support staff....they worked with us from start to finish and made our job as hosts easy."

""I really appreciated the entire Convention and Visitors Bureau for all the help the many people gave to me while I was organizing this convention from 1,500 miles away. I couldn't have done it without all of you! Our group holds a convention in a different city in the United States every year and in comparing notes with other convention chairmen, I realize that the El Paso CVB is really unique. Nobody else had the support and help you gave me in El Paso.""

The excellent international access via world class airports, the variety of hotels, the world-renowned cuisine, the skilled labor, and outstanding facilities at McCormick Place all add up to a first-class, global city that our attendees love to return to year after year.
